We are a Non-Profit Organization based in North Riding, in the City of Johannesburg, South Africa. We are registered with and regulated by the South African Department of Social Development under the Non-Profit Organization Act 1997 (Act 71 of 1997)
Our fund raising campaign Is aimed at creating awareness and building a school for learners diagnosed with learning disorders more specifically, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)/ Attention Deficit Hyper Disorder (ADHD) living in slums and peri-urban areas of Cosmo City, Zandspruit, Muldersdrift, Diepsloot, Kya Sands, Bloubosrand and Honeydew areas. These areas have a large number of poor households where parents cannot afford private schooling for their children with learning disorders and the State provided schools in these areas the children are on average 45 or more per class due to overcrowding and children with learning disabilities need classes with smaller numbers as well as individual attention to thrive which our current Public School System cannot provide. In addition to the learning disability challenge most parents, caregivers and teachers in the township areas do not understand the children’s diagnosis resulting in the children being labeled as slow learners or having an attitude towards learning.
Our aim is to keep the children with learning disabilities in school and teach them lifelong skills that will benefit them in their future careers also to teach, guide and support parents and guardians who have children with learning disabilities. We are planning to build a Primary School and a Technical High School that will cater to the children’s needs, in an area closer to their homes and that will be affordable for their parents/guardians.
